Got Married milestone missing for one spouse?
Your Sims exchanged vows and their relationship panel says “Spouse”, but the Got Married milestone only appears for one of them. Here is how to identify the issue in the save and what you can safely do about it.
What does this bug look like?
In the relationship panel, the Sims are spouses. In the milestone history, one Sim has “Got Married” and the other has no corresponding completed event. Sometimes related milestones such as becoming significant others or falling in love may also be missing.
That distinction matters: restoring a life event is not the same as creating a marriage or changing the underlying relationship status. LIFE ATLAS edits supported milestone records, not the entire relationship system.
Step-by-step: inspect and restore the event
- Close The Sims 4. Back up your entire
savesfolder. On Windows the usual location isDocuments/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/saves; on macOS it is normally under your Documents folder. - Open LIFE ATLAS. Choose the affected
Slot_XXXXXXXX.save. You can add a.save.ver*backup as a second source. - Select the spouse missing the milestone. Find
lifeMilestone_Married(internal ID306213in the tuning catalog used by this tool). - Compare both sides. Review the affected Sim’s event history and the other spouse’s completed event, if present. Verify who owns the record and who is referenced as the partner.
- Choose a genuine completed event as a source. If the event is missing entirely, restoring it may require a source from the other Sim or an older save. Choose the intended spouse separately so the game does not show a Sim married to themself.
- Export a new save slot. Reopen it in the editor to inspect the link. Only then test it in the game.
Do wedding and relationship milestones need the same time?
No. Becoming significant others and getting married can occur on different in-game days. The editor should preserve the original event time where possible, rather than set both to a matching timestamp automatically. The game can also group milestones by life stage and category, so changing timestamps is not a guaranteed way to control UI order.
What if no save has the completed event?
The editor cannot safely invent all unknown binary fields of a milestone. Check an older backup, avoid overwriting the original and consider supported in-game or mod tools for creating an event from scratch. A locally valid save does not guarantee the event will show in the Sims 4 interface after every game patch.

Questions before using a save editor
Is LIFE ATLAS a mod?
No. It is a standalone browser-based save editor, not a game script mod.
Will it change the couple’s relationship status?
No. It is intended for supported milestone data; a wrong relationship status is a different issue.
Can I use an old .save.ver0 backup?
Yes, as an additional source of a completed milestone event. Back up the original before any experiments.
